Intel's Moorestown Vs ARM Processor

According to reports, Apple is seriously considering a switch to Intel's Mobile Internet Device (MID) platform for future iPhones.Apple currently uses ARM processor and a custom mainboard for the present lot of iPhones.Apple reportedly is considering adopting Intel's Moorestown MID (mobile Internet device) platform processor in a new iPhone. The Moorestown MID platform from Intel is based on 45nm manufacturing process
The Moorestown platform runs cooler and is ten times more power-efficient than similar processors of the present day. Intel has revealed a Moorestown-based MID product with functions similar to Apple's iPhone at the recent Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco. The Moorestown platform is expected to launch in 2009 and Apple is considering developing an iPhone based on it, according to OEM sources. (read more...)
